J2150 in focus

Produced by Caleb Cavarretta

J2150 in focus is a multimedia project seeking to examine the efforts of other student participating in The University of Missouri's Journalism 2150 class, which instructs students in the skills of multimedia journalism. Students are expected to produce photography, audio, video and basic web design.

The two students followed for this project were MU sophomore Kara Tabor and junior Liz Brown. In this project, I hope to exhibit the challenges faced by these student journalists, the reasons why they chose their assignments and the technical side of their efforts.

Tabor's project focused on the diverse religious community within the Columbia, Mo. area.  Tabor said she hoped to capture the sense of community that shared religious experience builds within the Columbia area, especially amongst the international community.

Brown's project focused on Summer Welcome activities at MU. Brown interviewed several students for her part of the project, as she focused on incoming freshmen. "I wanted to capture their excitement of being in a new place around new people," she said.
